Reishi Mushroom also known as Ganoderma Lucidum (the mushroom of immortality), is one of the oldest mushrooms used in today’s medicine. Reishi is a wild mushroom that grows in the woods, attached to tree trunks. It is widespread in many parts of the world, and well known by mycologists.

The Reishi mushroom improves the immune system and is a useful supplement for a range of immune and inflammatory problems, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis or ulcerative colitis. It can also help control acne and minimize age spots that can only make you look younger!

The strong antihistamine activity of Reishi make it an ideal complement for those who suffer from allergies. Reishi Mushroom is also known to prevent health problems that can lead to more serious problems such as heart attack. It is clear that it can also help people with liver problems, blood circulation and lung disorders

Did you know that Ganoderma lucidum has clearly demonstrated anticancer activity in experiments with cancer cells and has therapeutic potential as a dietary supplement for an alternative therapy for breast and prostate cancer?

Medicinal Benefits of Reishi Mushroom by Suzy Cohen, RPh

Hi everyone!

I’m Suzy Cohen America’s pharmacist and instead of talking about drugs and medications that help with the flu and cold I’d rather talk to you about how to prevent them and so I’m going to talk to you about a mushroom.

A very large one called reishi mushroom also Ganoderma lucidum or Lingzhi in Chinese. This is actually half of a mushroom, it was so big and I couldn’t break it. They’re like wood. I took it over to Home Depot and the guy videoed him using his saw to cut the mushroom. He thought I was the strangest customer that he had had all year and so he put that on Facebook. I thought that was very funny, but anyway let me just show you that they do come smaller.

These are known for their anti-cancer effects and they are th1 stimulant meaning they stimulate a part of your immune system that helps you fight infection. They reduce tumor necrosis factor-alpha that is an inflammatory cytokine. They increase your natural killer cells which is good. You want your natural killer cells to naturally kill off organisms. These will also do a number of things to increase interferon gamma that’s very good, and also to suppress and raise certain interleukins in your body such that, collectively speaking, powerful anti-inflammatory, powerful anti-cancer, well studied for breast, prostate, colon cancer and gastric cancer.

One of the things they do, that I think is really neat, is they reduce angiogenesis, which is a big word that basically means blood vessels are feeding cancer so when you reduce or inhibit or block angiogenesis you starve off cancer cells, very good! Also, these induces apoptosis, which means they send a signal out that tells cancer cells, go kill yourself, get out, which is a good thing. You want to induce apoptosis it tells cancer cells to commit suicide.

Now, how do you make this? Because I know you can buy a commercial extract, that’s fine. There’s high-quality ones I have no problem with commercial extracts, especially the herbal ones, those are pretty good, but some of the capsules and tablets are standardized to polysaccharides or to triterpene which are just two ingredients that you would find in this big giant mushroom. Well you can do that, but you’re kind of turning your natural herb into a drug. I really like whole herbs.

I want all the benefits from this beauty in one drink so I make a tea and what I do is, I use a slow cooker and I just literally fill over the water. I don’t know if you can see it, I filled it before I started taping. I put the mushroom in there that’s it. That is so simple.

Now it tastes pretty nasty. It’s bitter, but it’s not undrinkable. I stick vanilla in there just for a little bit flavor, you can put honey in it when it’s all done, but the key here is a slow extraction and by that I mean plug in your slow cooker, put it on low and leave it there for an entire day and when you’re done you will have this colorful liquid. You’re going to strain off the mushroom obviously.

You’re going to have this liquid and this is what you drink, and you can drink however much you want or whatever your doctor thinks is right for you, but for me, I drink a shot glass of it three times a day.

I’m pretty healthy so you know I wouldn’t take more than that, but it isn’t a potent adrenal adaptogen. It will stimulate your adrenal glands to work better and it’ll also stimulate the production of thyroxine which is the thyroid hormone that your thyroid gland makes.

So, the plant of immortality, drink up, I’ll see you next time.

Reishi Benefits by Lacey Jones

– Hey everyone, I’m Lacey Jones, the founder of Gratified Soul.

In this video, I’m gonna share with you the three most important benefits of reishi, and why you need to add this into your daily diet. Make sure to stay tuned to the end, there’ll be a giveaway and a bonus tip.

So let’s get started. The number one benefit of reishi is that it helps our body fight off cancer. I really want this to sink in, I really want you to hear this message. I have lost many people that I’ve loved to cancer, and I have friends, currently, who have cancer.

There’s so much research behind reishi helping our bodies fight off cancer, and also helping us get through chemo. If you’re going through chemotherapy, this actually helps protect your healthy cells. And once your immune system’s been completely wiped out, it helps the immune system bounce back. This is an important one to really sink in, and I really want you to hear this.

Even the Japanese government has officially recognized reishi as a treatment for some types of cancer. There are plenty of research studies that have been documented. If you go to, type in reishi, there will be study after study after study, and all of them say wonderful things.

There’s a reason why reishi has been used for thousands of years in Asian cultures, and now it’s slowly making its way into the Western world. If you or anyone you know is fighting off cancer, or afraid that they might come down with cancer due to genetic disposition, please speak with a doctor, show them the research, if they’re not open-minded to what’s going on in the rest of the world, and I highly recommend you use this.

Number two, reishi slows down the aging process in the body. There’s many research studies that show how reishi is a longevity mushroom, it’s even in the word, Chinese call it ling zhi, which, ling is spirit, zhi is longevity, or plant of longevity, so it’s in the name.

There’s clinical studies that have been done on mice and rats that have taken reishi, and those mice and rats have lived 20% longer than the other ones.

Number three, reishi helps us increase the alpha waves in our brain. Why is this important? It’s because this brings about a sense of peace, calm, relaxation, but all of that without the sleepiness that normally happens when we take other medications to get into that relaxed state. Monks have been using this for thousands of years as a way to get into a higher meditative state for this reason alone.

A great thing about taking reishi, right off the bat, you’re going to feel a sense of calm, a sense of peace, it helps with anti-anxiety, and you’ll get that benefit right away.

If you’re using reishi to help with the immunity part, that one, you should be taking on a daily basis, at least three times a day, but please speak to a doctor or a naturopath that can prescribe the right dosage that’s right for you.

For the bonus tip, I wanna show you two ways, out of the many ways that I get reishi into my diet, I have lots of products that I use, and I’ll definitely do a video if you’d like to see one.

But one of them is reishi extract. This is from Host Defense. Paul Stamets is the one that is behind all of this, and he’s an incredible mycologist who studies mushrooms. And he’s really opening the minds of many doctors in the Western world to what’s already been going on in the Eastern world. I highly recommend that you use Host Defense, if you can, if you can find it, I will put some links down below for you. You just put about a dropper and a half into a cup of water and shoot it down. I take it three times a day, and it’s amazing.

The second product I wanna show you is this, from Four Sigmatic. This is Mushroom Hot Cacao, so this is hot cocoa. It comes in little individual packets, easy for travel, easy to put in your purse. If you ever are in a stressful situation, say, at work, or other places, you’re going to get into that nice, calming state of mind, and it’s not gonna have the sleepy side effects, so this one is a great one to have on you.

Let’s talk about the giveaway. I’m giving two winners a box of the Four Sigmatic hot cocoa. This is delicious, easy to drink, it doesn’t taste bad at all, reishi can be, sometimes, bitter, this does not have any of that flavor in it, and I think you’re really going to enjoy it.
